OSPREY Contributor Guidelines

These guidelines are still being worked out. Send feedback through the Suggestion Box.

Who to list

List everyone who did the work. The contributor list is the credit record for the project, and it goes into the Zenodo record and the citation.

If you're uploading a project you didn't build, list the real authors and give yourself a role like "Uploaded project". The Project Owner has to be listed as a contributor.

ORCID iDs

Every contributor on a published project needs an ORCID iD. Attach it with the ORCID search on the submission form, which fills in the name and affiliation. ORCID iDs are free at orcid.org.

Roles

Roles are free text. The form offers suggestions.

Accepting credit

Listed contributors can see the draft. Their name links to their OSPREY profile only after they accept the credit from Settings, under Contributor Credits. The Project Owner can send a confirmation request from the Contributors tab so contributors can accept credit before publishing. On publishing, every listed contributor receives one.

Editing

The Project Owner controls the contributor list and is the only person who can publish. Once a contributor has accepted their credit, ticking Project Editor on their row lets them edit everything except the contributor list.

Removals

A contributor who hasn't accepted can decline, and the credit comes off the project. After accepting, a contributor can leave a draft on their own. On a published project, removal goes through staff. Ask from Contributor Credits and staff will work it out with the project team.
